Train Whistles
I love using birthday parties as an excuse to try my hand at a new crafting method. For my son’s 2nd birthday, this new technique was pyrography. Being heavily pregnant and not all together coordinated at the best of times, John was understandably nervous about me burning wood. All things considered, it was a fairly easy and inexpensive new skill to start (and I only burned myself a couple of times)!
Basically, I printed stencils of our guests’ names and used the all-purpose tip from this kit to burn the outline of each name into the backs of these whistles. I have a long way to go before feeling proficient in this new craft, but it was a fun new way to personalize a cute favor!
Reusable Coloring Book & Large Crayon Box
After getting a laminated coloring book and dry erase crayons as a gift one Christmas (and using them all over the world as a travel toy), I have loved finding new ways to make and use these. Favor Bag Design
What better way to package train-related goodies than in a bag made to look like a train! It’s a cheap, easy, and fun way to send the party home with your guests! Since these are made with paper lunch bags, they could also be used to make a special lunch for your own aspiring conductor.
