Thanksgiving is one of those holidays that is seeped in individual family tradition. Since we moved around consistently growing up, my family never had a set list of traditional Thanksgiving fare nor a consistent group of people with which to share the holiday. As such, our Thanksgiving “tradition” was to try new things and allow our family (or adopted family, aka friends) to evolve our concept of the holiday.
Now that my siblings and I have gotten married and started families of our own, our most recent Thanksgiving experience back in our home-of-origin was to infuse the Thanksgiving holiday with pieces of our spouses’ traditions, newly found recipes, and bits of our own childhood memories.
It was a wonderful coalescing of food from around the country, and a great way to continue our tradition of an evolving holiday for the next generation!
Here are our recipes from this evolving Thanksgiving Dinner (I’ll be posting them over the next few weeks):
Southern Apricot Glazed Carrots
Holiday Pies (Pecan, Pumpkin, Apple-Pear)
…and of course a lovely table setting never hurts! Here is a tutorial for the Fall Plate Charger.
